Hello friend,
Today I want to dive in immediately. No introductions. I’m sure, you won’t even need it.
3 quotes from great minds
“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.”
― Thomas A. Edison“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
― Albert Einstein“There is no greatness where there is not simplicity, goodness, and truth.”
― Leo Tolstoy
Don’t get distracted from what really matters
We all carry dreams and desires in our hearts. Some are big others are small. But no desire is accidental. A dream either comes from the essence of your soul or it was planted by society.
Desires like a big house, a fancy car, X amount of money are all desires that likely come from years of living in a society that promotes the same values of status, power and safety. These dreams feel safe to pursue even rational. And there is nothing inherently bad about it.
The only problem with these desires is that they distract you from pursuing the dreams of your heart.
The dreams of your heart feel different. They energize you, and fill you with excitement, hope and an inner feeling of calmness. They might also feel a little scary and uncertain.
How not to lose your happiness
The joy of living is not found in the big moments and achievements. When you finally buy that house, publish that book or get the job… your satisfaction will be temporary.
Unless you make sure that it lasts.
Think about all the things you once really wanted and now you take them for granted. Did the joy last as long as you’ve anticipated it? I guess not. But you canmake it last by truly savoring the present moment and savoring the simple joys of life.
Got that new house? Amazing!
Now savor every moment in it. Going down the stairs and see the sunlight hit your furniture in pretty way? Enjoy it. Making pancakes in your new kitchen for your partner or family? Bathe in the gratitude for all the tools you have to make it. Enojoy the smells and the fact that you have a loving family to cook for. Doing chores? What a blessing that you get to take care of your home and fill it with love.
Finding joy in the mundane is actually very simple. And should not feel like an innovation. What is an innovation is our extremely fast paced society that doesn’t allow us to take moments for ourselves. To enjoy the simplicity of life.
Fail and then fail some more
The more you fail the more you learn.
You’ll learn through success as well. But failure is healing. You get to let go of your ego. You get to laugh about your mistakes, your obsessive need to be right or to appear a certain way. Failure will humble you and show you a much better way to move forward.
